True Happiness DVD shares 2000 year
old secrets
If you are felling unhappy about your life,
relationships or work then a new DVD may be able to help you.
Called Your Guide to True Happiness the 70-minute
video features some of the country’s top motivational speakers
as well as GPs and a psychologist.
The video has been produced by Mosaic Media Ltd,
a company owned by former New Zealand Herald Careers editor Steve
Hart.
He says the basic thrust of the video is that
money doesn’t raise people’s levels of happiness.
“We all need money,” says Steve. “But
once you have the basics covered, more money doesn’t translate
into more happiness. For example, people live for the Lotto, saying
that if they won the big prize they’d be happier.
“Research shows that is not the case and
that a person’s set point of happiness can be raised with
positive thinking and looking at life in a more positive way. The
experts say that acceptance of your circumstances is really the
start of becoming more contented – not wishing your life away
hoping for a big win or waiting to retire from your job.”
Steve says the idea of the video came to him more
than two years ago.
“At the time I was working full time at
the newspaper and frequently got calls from people asking for advice
about their careers. A lot of them seemed plain miserable with their
lot.
“At the same time I was speaking with life
coaches and career coaches and thought it would be good to bring
some of them together in one positive, inspiring and motivational
video.
“I felt the video had to be made and that
is one of the reasons why I resigned from my job to work as a freelance
writer and make the video.”
Steve has made two documentaries prior to producing
his happiness video and so says he felt well placed to take the
lead and get the job done.
Among those who feature in the video are leadership
coach Clive Littin, founder of the International Self Esteem day
and motivational presenter, Janice Davies (the lady with nice in
her name), psychologist Talia Mana, motivational guru and author
Dr Tom Mulholland physician and author Dr Robin Kelly and the Rev.
Rhonda Joy Gola.
Steve describes the video as offering strong practical
and sound advice from people who have the knowledge and experience
to know what they are talking about.
“The experts featured help people from all
walks of life turn their lives around – it is something they
do every week. And I count myself very fortunate to have them in
the DVD.”
Steve says he was careful not to have 70 minutes
of what he calls ‘talking heads’. Instead the video
includes lots of footage illustrating what the experts are talking
about and this is mixed with music to add atmosphere.
“The video runs for 70 minutes, but it bounces
along quite nicely – people who have watched it say the time
flies by and then they watch it again.”
He says the video is suitable for anyone –
from people looking for advice on how to change their life, to people
looking for career advice and who want a happier life.
The video has its own website at www.truehappiness.tv
where viewers can watch a clip of the video. It retails for $39.95
plus postage and packing of $5.
